2022 World Cup: Eddie Nketiah secures his Ghanaian Passport ahead of a possible nationality switch

English-born Ghanaian striker Eddie Nketiah has secured a Ghanaian passport ahead of his planned nationality switch which will enable him to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.

A week ago, the striker who plies his trade for London club Arsenal confirmed he is open to playing for the Black Stars of Ghana.

The striker has featured in games for all the junior National football teams of England but is yet to play a game for the senior national team.

The Ghana Football Association in a bid to strengthen their squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers and World Cup has tried all they could to convince him to switch nationality to make him eligible for the Ghana Black Stars.

On the Beautiful Game Podcast, Eddie Nketiah said he was open to playing for Ghana and England as well.

“Of course, it is a possibility. I’m open to both, playing for Ghana and playing for England as well,” Nketiah told  The Beautiful Game podcast.

Just like Callum Hudson Odoi of Chelsea, the Arsenal striker has made a giant step towards his nationality switch.

Having secured a Ghana passport, Ghana Football Association can now write to FIFA to start the process for him to be eligible to play for Ghana Black Stars.
