Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, the Minister Designate for Health, has highlighted internal divisions as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) biggest threat going into the 2024 polls.
He holds that the internal threat surpasses that which is posed by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking in an interview on Peace FM’s Kokokroo on May 7, 2024, he underscored the pervasive bitterness harboured by some party members towards the leadership, citing it as a significant obstacle to the NPP’s electoral prospects.
He emphasized the need for urgent intervention to address these grievances within the party ranks.
“The biggest threat to NPP in this coming election is not NDC but our biggest threat has to do with our party members holding bitterness.
“Why are they angry? The factors are many … people are complaining that others are eating and they are not.
“We have to engage with the party members to calm down issues … because it is only in politics that we tolerate mad people because the one you are seeing as a madman; has more people in his camp than those seen as educated.
“This election is a very difficult one but if you work hard, God will reward you,” he said.
