The Secretary of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Awutu Senya East Constituency (Kasoa) of the Central Region Mr. Michael ADDY has said that the 2025 budget statement betrays misplaced priorities of the Mahama administration.
He explained that the government has allocated a paltry 51 million Cedis seed capital for the creation of the Women’s Development Bank but has allocated 71 million Cedis to research at the presidency.
This, in his view, betrays the priorities of the government.
Reacting to the budget statement in an interview, Mr. Michael Addy said “This budget that the NDC brought is the budget in which they have told us that they value Ghanaian women so much that they are going to set up a bank for them. , the Womens Development Bank. The NDC have put 51 million Cedis allocation in this budget for the Womens Development Bank. And then have put 70 million Cedis for Research at Jubilee House. Have we seen their priorities? The budget is betraying their true priorities and the ordinary Ghanaian is not considered”.
Mr Michael Addy further told the Mahama administration to find coherence between the 2025 budget statement and the manifesto promises of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He also added that, the amount of money allocated to the Government machinery is far huge than as compared to the amount of money allocated to facilitate projects and initiatives to help the ordinary. He added that even though President Mahama and NDC promised lean government and has delivered on it, it is spending more than NPP oversized Government.
The Kasoa NPP secretary in furtherance chastised the Mahama led administration for not prioritizing road infrastructure in the 2025 Budget statement. He revealed that, Road infrastructure development does not form part of the NDC Government top 5 priorities in the budget. He asserted that any government which does not prioritise road expansion is a failed government in advance and he believes the Mahama NDC administration is a failed one.
