5 Chinese arrested in connection with missing excavators in Ellembelle

The Ghana police have arrested five Chinese in connection to the missing excavators in Ellembelle in the Western Region.

The police released a statement disclosing that about five Chinese Nationals were picked up during a special operation undertaken on the night of September 7, 2022.

This special operation by the police comes after some of the missing excavators were retrieved and the arrest of five other people, including the District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, Kwasi Bonzo.

The police said;

“A team of operations and intelligence officers working day and night discovered the missing excavator several kilometers into a forest within the Ellembelle District,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, police have arrested the DCE of Ellembelle, Mr. Kwasi Bonzo and three others for attempting to obstruct the operations.

“While the team of police officers was escorting the excavator to Takoradi, at the Axim Junction, the DCE of Ellembelle, Mr. Kwasi Bonzo organized and led some thugs to attack the police and obstruct the operation. The DCE and three others were therefore arrested accordingly.”
