The Chief of Onyansana in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Ansah Sasraku I, and his household is alleged to have been attacked by an unknown thugs.
The traditional council of the area has revealed that the assailants were spotted in military attire, prompting it to call on the security agencies to swiftly conduct an investigation to bring those “military” men to book.
The invasion of the chief’s palace on Sunday, March 6, according to the traditional rulers, has left residents to live in total fear and panic.
Onyansana is a fast developing community in the Ga West Municipal Assembly, yet the residents have decried rampant land guard activities which put people’s properties at risk.
Residents have had their properties destroyed by land guards for no reason.
Chief of Onyansana Nii Sasraku I, speaking to Onua TV on Wednesday, April 6, expressed worry over incessant attacks and called on the security agencies to beef up security in the community.
Nii narrated his ordeal and described the brutalities meted out to his family by the supposed military men as horrible and total humiliation.
He indicated that the attackers were allegedly sent by one madam Akos (aka ECOTEC), who has been claiming ownership of the Onyansana stool lands.
He labeled activities by the said Akos and her military men in the community as felonious and has called on the police to apprehend them for peace to prevail in the area and adjoining communities.
He appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to take the matter up to ensure peace in the community.
“What I know is that the Ghana Armed Forces has a principle that weapons and force can be used for the purpose of a military operation and not to harm and threaten people who are non-combatants.
“So, the soldiers who used excessive force and threatened my life and that of the people in my community are criminals and need to be investigated,” Nii reiterated.
Nii Ansah Sasraku I indicated that the traditional council has reported the case to the Amasaman police as well as petitioning the IGP.
He equally wants the security agencies to establish at least a police post to curtail the activities of the land guards in the community.
