Barcelona and Sevilla have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jules Olivier Kounde, subject to the player passing a medical.
“FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jules Olivier Kounde, awaiting the player passing a medical and the signing of contracts.” The Laliga giants said in a statement.
The France international was targeted by both Barcelona and Chelsea but the Catalans beat their London counterparts to the signing of Kounde after agreeing a fee of around €55 million with Sevilla.
The two clubs have also battled each other for the services of Raphinha and Lewandowski with Barça having the upper hand in both occasions.
Kounde joined Sevilla from FC Girondins de Bordeaux three years ago, made 133 appearances and won the Europe league with the Andalusian club in his first season.
He debuted for France in 2021 and was part of les bleus squad that lifted the UEFA Nations League after beating Spain in the final.
The technically gifted center-back will bring speed, commitment and quality to the Barcelona defense.
