Paris Saint-Germain walloped Nantes 4-0 to win their ninth French Super Cup (Trophee des Champions) in the past 10 years on Sunday.
Goals from Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos and a brace from Neymar were enough to secure victory for the Ligue 1 champions.
They were without French superstar Kylian Mbappe who was suspended due to yellow card accumulation but his absence obviously did not affect the overall performance of the team.
New boss Christophe Galtier’s charges looked rejuvenated and all set for the upcoming season. Messi and Neymar reminded us of their MNS days at Barcelona with glimpses of quality displays.
The Parisians took the lead after 22 minutes as Messi beat the Nantes defense and rounded the keeper to finish from a tight angle to opened the scoring. Neymar doubled the advantage with a fantastic free-kick just before the end of the first half.
Ramos added the third with a cheeky backheel and with just eight minutes to go Neymar converted from the spot kick to wrapped up proceedings as PSG clinched their 11th Trophee des Champions.
