Col. Kwadwo Damoah (RTD), Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has warned Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor.
According to him, attempts by the OSP to discredit him with claims of corruption in accordance with his duties will fail.
At a retreat in Kumasi, Col. Damoah explained to some top customs officers that the accusations made against him and other senior officers are an intentional attempt to damage his name.
He asserts that the allegations are being made by a few dissatisfied customs officers who are envious of his power in the industry.
He continued by saying that he would make sure his subordinates were safe from unfavourable intimidation for as long as he was in charge.
The Special Prosecutor, according to Col. Kwadwo Damoah, is after him because he prevented Mr. Akurugu from succeeding Kissi Agyebeng as Kissi Agyebeng’s deputy.
Three days ago, a report purported to be coming from the Office of the Special Prosecutor trying to indict the Deputy Commissioner of Operations and myself [but] anybody who has read that report very well knows the basis of that.
And luckily for me, God is always on my side. Before that report came, that person had made a comment to some people who had come to tell me [that] he [Special Prosecutor] was going to publish something that would discredit me… and I sent people to go and tell him that he is a small boy and I am older than him. “
