There is tension in the air at Paris Saint-Germain, as Neymar and Mbappe embroiled in on-field fall-out leading to a ‘clear the air’ meeting.
The Ligue 1 champions thumped Montpellier 5-2 at the weekend but it was the on-field antics between the two key players that took center stage.
At one point in the game Mbappe stopped running in his tracks after Neymar failed to pass him the ball. That clip went viral on social media and the Frenchman is the one on the chopping board.
The ludicrous thing happened when Mbappe demanded the ball from Neymar for PSG’s second penalty of the game, even though he missed the first attempt.
Neymar ignored and went on to score. The Brazilian later liked a tweet which questions why Mbappe should be PSG’s main penalty taker.
According to L’Equipe, the PSG hierarchy have decided to intervene now, before the situation escalates.
According to the French publication, Coach Christophe Galtier and sporting advisor Luis Campos will intervene and speak with both forwards at some point this week.
