The new Black Stars away shirt for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has been met with widespread criticism from Ghanaians, many of whom have resorted to social media to voice their disapproval.
Many Ghanaians are dissatisfied with the design of the Black Stars’ away shirt for the World Cup, images of which surfaced online over the weekend.
The photos quickly gained widespread online attention.
On Monday, August 29th, PUMA revealed the Black Stars away outfit on their official social media accounts.
The new uniforms (home and away) will be used in competition by every other national football team as well.
The shirt has the design of the Ghanaian flag on the breast and is mostly red.
In May, PUMA announced the Black Stars’ home uniform for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
The vibrant national flag colours of red, gold, and green are featured on the cuffs of the crisp white pattern.
The new home jersey has a collar with a yellow colour and the puma tag is visible on the inside of the shirt and on the button on the left sleeve.
The lettering and puma logo are aligned horizontally on the right side of the breast, with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) badge on the left. In the centre is a large, bold Black Star.
These new uniforms will be worn by the Black Stars in their Group H matches against Uruguay, Portugal, and the Republic of Korea.
