Ajax started the game on a front foot and dominated in most part as Rangers struggled for rhythm and composure.
The hosts opened the scoring on the 17th minute after Edson Berghuis connected from a corner kick with a thunderous header.
Steven Berghuis doubled the lead before Mohammed Kudus adding the third just a minute later with a solo run down the left wing before finding the right-bottom corner.
Steven Bergwijn added the fourth to round off an emphatic win for de Godenzonen.
