Shasha Marley, whose birth name is Julius Amua-Sekyi, has said that the success of his song Maata has brought him both fame and significant legal problems.
Speaking with Ghana Television, Shasha Marley said that the song was a hit upon its first release and opened doors for him as an artist.
I was at this very studio in 2007 when the song was first released. I’ve tried to explain this music from here a million times, but no one ever seems to believe me.
All the success and all the failure came from just one song. He remarked, “This earned me the greatest honors.”
“This is my song and I want to hear it,” he stated when asked whether he was concerned about the song’s reception and interpretation.
The Reggae musician reiterated that the song’s title had nothing to do with flatulence, but rather the names of his pals in Papua New Guinea: Maata Tuitui, Maata Pue, and Maata Fish.
