Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior has been a subject of racial abuse in recent weeks and especially during the Madrid derby at the Civitas Metropolitano.
Racist chants were directed at Vinicius when he joined compatriot Rodrygo in celebrating the first goal. The two dance along with other teammates right in front Atletico Madrid fans and you could literally hear vile chants from the stance calling Vinicius ‘monkey’.
La Liga has began investigation into the racist abuse aimed at the Brazilian forward. The Spanish league will study the audio and video evidence before filing a report to Spain’s Commission against Violence — the state body which has the jurisdiction to fine the club or force them to play behind closed doors.
Real Madrid subsequently issued a statement condemning the racism and xenophobia against their player.
