Arsenal have beaten Liverpool 3-2 at the Emirates to go back on top of the Premier League with one point clear of counterparts, Manchester City.
Arsenal got off to a flying start when Gabriel Martinelli put them ahead just under one minute but Darwin Nunez leveled from Luis Diaz’s cross after 34 minutes.
Arsenal regained their lead on the stroke of half time from a counterattack after scorer-turned-provider Martinelli broke lose before firing across the face of goal for Bukayo Saka to tap in the second.
However Liverpool equalized after the restart when substitute Roberto Firmino fired beyond keeper Aaron Ramsdale in the 53rd minute.
With 14 minutes remaining, Arsenal won a dodgy penalty after Thiago Alcantara was penalized for a challenge on Gabriel Jesus and Saka stepped up and converted the resultant penalty cold bloodedly to bring his side back in the lead.
Mikel Arteta’s men held onto the lead to win their eighth Premier League game of the season.
