Barcelona put their Champions League blues behind as they edged past Celta Vigo to return to the top of La Liga on goal difference as Pedri nets winner.
They started on the front foot and got the breakthrough in the 17th minute after Pedri reacted swiftly to turn home from close range after Gavi’s cross.
Celta pushed for the equalizer right after going behind with Jorgen Strand Larsen coming close but his header was disallowed.
It was not a vintage performance from Barcelona, but they still managed to get the job done — Xavi’s side struggled for rhythm and composure in large parts of the game.
However the Blaugrana held onto the narrow lead to win their seventh LaLiga game of the season, having drawn only one in their opening fixture.
Real Madrid had gone top of the league with a 1-0 victory over Getafe on Saturday but the win has brought the Catalans back on top of the table ahead of the first El Classico of the season on Sunday.
