Chelsea’s underperforming stars are battling a fight for their futures as club owners are planning to overhaul the entire squad in a sensational move to end player power.
Manager Graham Potter is currently under intense scrutiny following Chelsea’s dip in form. They suffered yet another defeat at Fulham in midweek in a game that saw new signing Joao Felix dismissed on his debut.
But the club owners are reportedly backing the under-fire manager to turn things around and succeed as against the modus operandi of former owner Roman Abramovich who repeatedly backed players over managers.
As per the Daily Telegraph Chelsea owners are seriously considering a squad clear out if performances do not improve immediately — the likes of Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are facing uncertain futures.
There is also the issue of wage bill. Since their arrival, the Boehly-Clearlake owners have been trying to rebalance Chelsea’s wage bill since taking over the club and that will continue as more new players arrive and others depart.
Chelsea have been struck with injury in recent weeks and Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic, have added to a lengthening injury list after both were hauled off in their game against Manchester City.
Chelsea sits in an unusual position of 10th, 10 points adrift of the Champions League places.
