According to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’, Stefan Radu is sure that this will be his last season as a Lazio player. The 36-year-old left-back will retire at the end of the season, although he could remain linked to the Roman club as a youth coach.
There are four games left in Serie A. On matchday 35, Lazio, ranked third with 64 points, will host Lecce, 16th with 31.
Stefan Radu could be living his last matches as a professional footballer. ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ claims that the left-back intends to hang up his boots at the end of the season.
His future, in any case, would still be linked to Lazio. The Romanian could move from the field of play to the bench: he would have a place as a coach in the youth ranks of the Roman team.
If it is confirmed that he retires, ‘Le Aquile’ will say goodbye to a legend. He is the player with the most appearances (426) in the history of Lazio, the player with the most minutes (34,507) and the player who has started the most games (412).
Stefan Radu also has the second most wins as a Lazio player, behind Favalli with 208. Against Lecce, the full-back has played six games, winning two, drawing one and losing three. The betting pools do not place him in the starting XI this Friday, as he has played just 67 minutes in 2 games this season, a poor record that encourages to think that his farewell is near.
