As the Population of Awutu Senya East Municipality known as Kasoa
continue to grow rapidly, recent data has revealed about that about 47
Government schools in the municipality, about 41
are currently running on a shift system.
The situation of which the authorities in the Education Directorate and the
Assembly are bemoaning the high rate of educational Infrastructure deficit in
the municipality and thus calling on Non-Governmental Organizations and
other benevolence to as a matter of urgency intervene.
Speaking to Obaatanpa News to Officially open a renovated Library for
Odupongkpehe Cluster of Schools, the Awutu Senya East Education Director,
Mrs. Faustina Alimatu Braima noted that, the situation of infrastructural deficit
is negatively having a serious impact on teaching and learning activities and
academics as a whole.
Mrs. Braima cited that, even though 41 Government schools are on shift
System, they are recorded at least 70 pupils in a class for one session. She says
the population of students in the government schools keep increasing day-in
day-out.
She said the Member of parliament Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson is currently
raising Storey buildings due to inadequate land for construction works but the
member of parliament cannot do it alone and thus want all hands on desk to
help close the gap of infrastructural deficit.
Speaking to Journalists on the sidelines of the same event, the Municipal
Chief Executive of Awutu Senya East, Hon. Anita Obo Love Amissah noted that
on the issue of the infrastructural deficit, the assembly and the member of
parliament concern is doing their best but due to uncontrollable population
increase, it is making the fight very difficult.
Hon. Anita use the opportunity to entreat students to inherit the habit of
reading. She believes our students can be improved through frequent reading
and also urged the school authorities and the student to inherit maintenance
culture.
The Library Renovation Project was funded by an NGO called International
Fellowship Programme Alumni Association of Ghana (IFPAG).
The Group which was represented by Rev. Sister Faustina Ethel Ganaa, she is
one of the Executives of the Alumni. Rev. Sister Faustina on her part urged
Ghanaian students to adopt reading habit to improve upon their academic
lives.
