John Dramani Mahama, the former president of Ghana and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed concern over a negative experience faced by a UK subsidiary company operating in Ghana.
The company reportedly refused to pay bribes to certain ministry officials in order to secure a contract to supply products to health facilities. Due to their refusal to pay bribes, they were allegedly denied the contract.
Reacting to this incident, John Mahama called it unfortunate and unpleasant. He stated that if he were the president, he would have personally met with the investors to discuss the situation and find ways to address their concerns, with the goal of retaining their investment in the country.
Mahama stressed the importance of prioritizing investors’ experiences and ensuring that the investment climate remains favorable and corruption-free.
This statement from Mahama highlights the ongoing challenges related to corruption and the need for transparent and ethical practices in government dealings and business operations.
