The Electoral Commission (EC) has set December 19, 2023 for this year’s District Level Election (DLE) per its scheduled activities.
Speaking at press conference today held at EC new headquarters, The Chairperson of Electoral Commission of Ghana Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensa called on all stakeholders to assist the EC by playing their roles to ensure the delivery of a free, fair and transparent election.
According to her, the District Level Elections is non-partisan and is being conducted in every four years (4) and there called on Ghanaians to fully participate in the District Level Elections 2023.
She added that the District Level Elections will be conducted in all the 6,272 electoral areas in all District with the exception of Nkranza North and South in the Bono East region because the DLE was not held in the above district in 2019 due to some security reasons.
She is of the view that the District Level Elections is the surest way to ensure development at the District level.
Sequential to that the Electoral Commission has announced 12th September 2023 to 2nd October 2023 for voter registration for the District Level Elections.
She opined that the voter registration for District level Elections will not be the final registration for the 2024 General election.
He urged the media to use their various platforms to educate Ghanaians about the District Level Elections for greater participation of Ghanaians.
