Ghana international Alfred Duncan missed out on lifting the Europa Conference League title on Wednesday night when his Fiorentina side lost 1-0 to Olympiacos in the final.
The final of this season’s Conference League was played at the OPAP Arena in Athens.
Although Alfred Duncan was included in the matchday squad for the final, he did not start the game.
In the 74th minute, with the scoreline still goalless, the former Black Stars midfielder was brought into the game as a replacement for Arthur Melo.
After coming on, Alfred Duncan helped his team and nearly scored late in the game with a powerful shot that went just wide.
With the game ending goalless at full-time, both Fiorentina and Olympiacos had to battle it out in extra time for the victory.
Eventually, a lone goal from Ayoub El Kaabi in the second half of extra time propelled Olympiacos to secure a 1-0 win and emerge as champions.
