Most Ghanaians on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), appeared to be pleased with Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew’s omission from Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
They lauded head coach Otto Addo on the decision to drop the Le Havre man, with some stating that it is the beginning of the end for the 34-year-old.
Generally, many Ghanaian X users appear to be satisfied with the squad list, claiming that almost all top-performing players have been duly handed invitations.
However, there were concerns regarding the inclusion of Edmund Addo, whom a section believes does not merit the call-up because he has been inactive.
Some questioned the midfielder’s consistent call-up, asserting that he has not shown outstanding quality since his international debut in 2021.
Otto Addo announced his 26-man squad on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, for the upcoming doubleheader against Mali and the Central African Republic in the qualifiers.
Ghana will visit Mali on Thursday, June 7, 2024, before hosting the Central African Republic on Monday, June 10, 2024.

What Ghanaians and otto addo are doing to Dede Ayew now😂😂….Leave the guy oo. Pls leave him alone… he always shows up giving all his energy.. if he had died on the pitch I guess it’d have been a waste of his life for how we are treating him now. pic.twitter.com/Q5p2st0syl
