Commuters who use the Kasoa-Mallam highway found themselves stuck in a gridlock during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Alleged road repair work on the Kasoa-bound stretch of the highway forced drivers to divert and use the Accra-bound stretch, leading to heavy traffic amid the rain.
The highway, which connects travelers from Takoradi, Cape Coast, and other surrounding towns to Accra, was blocked for over 3 hours.
By 5:30 am, the traffic had backed up from the Kasoa tollbooth to Kasoa Amanfrom.
The severity of the traffic caused drivers to drive on pavements, putting
pedestrians at risk.
Some commuters even had to resort to walking due to the lack of available cars.
