Final-year students at Chereponi Senior High School are facing significant challenges due to a week-long power outage in the area, which is disrupting their academic pursuits, particularly as they prepare for their final WASSCE exams.
The power outage has affected the entire Chereponi district, impacting health services, education, and economic activities.
Students are struggling to study at night, and the school’s assistant headmaster has expressed concerns about the negative impact on academic activities.
The district hospital is also severely affected, relying on fuel-powered generators to remain operational.
However, the Member of Parliament for Chereponi, Hon. Tahidu Abdul Razak, has provided the hospital with two drums of fuel to support their operations.
While some local businesspeople have found opportunities in the crisis by offering phone charging services, they too are urging a quick resolution to the power issue.
The Volta River Authority (VRA) has declined to comment but assured that efforts are being made to address the problem.
