The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has pledged to ensure a violence-free election in the constituency.
The Awutu Senya East constituency experienced gun violence during the 2020 elections at the Steps to Christ Centre, where some individuals sustained gunshot wounds, nearly disrupting the process.
Speaking after a walk through some principal streets of the constituency, the MP reiterated her commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring a violence-free election in the upcoming December polls.
The MP since the incident in 2020 has on several platforms indicated her resolve to ensure a free process in the 2024 elections.
The MP led a mammoth crowd through the principal streets of Kasoa in a walk while preaching peace ahead of the elections.
Hawa Koomson while addressing the gathering indicated her resolve to ensure a peaceful election devoid of violence.
“2024 is an election year and so as NPP faithful, we are gearing up for the big event. On Monday, the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be visiting the constituency to commission some projects. These are all some of the good things about the NPP. I will be filing my nomination so I needed to gather the NPP supporters ahead of that day. But I must also say that as MP I am committed to ensuring peaceful elections in December.
“Even if my opponent comes with violence, I will resist to ensure a peaceful process. We are ready for elections 2024 and it must come without any violence or confrontation. This is because I am the incumbent and my opponents are the ones who want to unseat me, but I remain steadfast to ensure that I win the elections hands down,” Hawa Koomson said.
The Member of Parliament for Damongo who doubles as the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Samuel Abu Jinapor touted the achievement of Mavis Hawa Koomson urging constituents to support the MP.
“The people of Kasoa are blessed to have Mavis Hawa Koomson as their MP because she is doing a great job. This was a woman who was heading the Ministry of Special Development Initiative and she ensured that every constituency got an ambulance.
“She was successful in that Ministry promoting President Akufo Addo to again make her the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development. She is someone who has transformed Kasoa and she deserves a chance to go to Parliament again and bring good things to the people of Awutu Senya East,” Member of Parliament for Damongo Abu Jinapor said.
