A Nigerian music producer, Idem Abasifreke has broken the record for the longest recording session in history.

On February 10, Mr. Abasifreke and Beatisblaak Studio started a 95-hour, 59-minute marathon recording session.

This remarkable achievement beats the earlier record, which was also accomplished in Nigeria in 2022 and stood for 40 hours and 19 minutes.

Idem Abasifreke’s records was just one minute short of an entire four days session.

Mr. Abasifreke explained that his goal was to become the world’s greatest music producer while giving up-and-coming musicians a platform.

“With the happiness in the faces of the music artists and their willingness to record for an hour each, every day was a new experience, music and vibes. I was happy but busy praying for success”, he stated as reported by guinnessworldrecords.com.

Mr. Abasifreke and his musicians were given five minutes break for every hour of recording through the entire marathon.

He said that while he made an effort to get some rest during his breaks, he frequently used the time to make sure that everything was operating as it should and that the record attempt standards were religiously being followed.

“As a music producer I’ve been working a lot of day and night sessions,” he explained.

He admitted that the hardest part of the challenge was financing it and keeping his studio’s power system running for days on end.

“Electricity was one of the challenges we had because it was coming and going as we tried to keep the power running and data subscription for our Wi-Fi was getting slow and low due to the numbers of people using it.

“We planned to set the record at 100 hours but our timer stopped exactly at 96 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds”, Mr Abasifreke added.

Despite the hard work and challenges, Abasifreke said the achievement “it’s a dream come true.”

“I am still surprised and happy,” he said.
