A Prison officer stationed at the Nsawam Prisons has been gruesomely murdered at Iron city, a suburb of Ngleshie Amanfrom in the Ga South Municipality of the Region.
The remains of the deceased prisons officer was retrieved by personnel from the Ngleshie Amanfro District Police Command.
Signs of severe machete wounds showed on his body which was pulled out from a gutter at the junction of the Hope of Restoration School located at Red Bulb, a suburb of Iron city in Amanfro and just a few streets away from the deceased officer’s home.
At the time, his identity could not be established and what led to his gruesome murder was also not known.
The deceased officer, Gideon Adu Boakye A.K.A. Obaa Yaa identity was established when his family went to report about him going missing since Sunday at the Ngleshie Amanfro police station after they were shown photographs of the remains that were retrieved earlier.
The family has been thrown into a state of despair after learning about the event.
According to Eric Akoto, a family member who spoke said the young prison officer who was stationed at the Nsawam prisons returned home to spend the weekend with his mother.
He however did not return back home after going out on Sunday morning prompting the family to lodge an official complaint to the police on Tuesday since his phone was out of reach.
The family is appealing to state security agencies to conduct a swift investigations into the matter and arrest the perpetrators as they suspect his murder is a deliberate orchestration.
The compound of the deceased officer’s house has been thrown into a total state of melancholy as nearby neighbors troop in to commiserate with the family.
His neighbors describe him as a calm gentleman with a soft heart and have joined calls to have his murderers arrested and made to face the full rigors of the law.
