West Ham star Mohammed Kudus finally apologises for red card

Mohammed Kudus

West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus has apologised for his conduct in the team’s recent derby with Tottenham, where a heated exchange led to his dismissal.

Kudus’s actions, which included shoving Spurs players Mickey van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr, resulted in a two-game suspension and fine from the FA.

Reflecting on his behaviour, Kudus expressed his regret: “I lost my cool, and I’m embarrassed. Watching the footage, I realise how things got out of hand, and that’s not the example I want to set.”

He shared that his preparation for the match had been challenging due to recent travel and online criticism, though he accepted responsibility for his actions.

The FA’s report detailed the panel’s divided stance on the penalty, with one member pushing for a longer ban to deter future incidents.

However, the panel ultimately settled on two games in addition to a three-game suspension, acknowledging his previous clean disciplinary record.

Kudus will thus sit out for a total of five games and will be fined £60,000.
