Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has refuted rumours of his death that recently surfaced on social media, confirming that he is alive and well.
Addressing the issue during a commissioning event, Obasanjo expressed shock and disappointment at the false reports, describing them as deeply upsetting and unacceptable.
He revealed that he first learned about the rumors through social media, where claims of his death were being circulated.
Reassuring his family and associates, he dismissed the rumors as untrue and attributed his continued good health to divine grace.
Obasanjo also condemned the motives behind such false reports, suggesting that those wishing him harm would ultimately face misfortune.
“Why would anyone wish me dead? Those who harbour such thoughts will not escape tragedy themselves. This kind of rumour is not only disturbing but shows the extent to which some people misuse technology. It is unacceptable,” he said.
He further criticized the misuse of technology in spreading harmful rumors, emphasizing the need for more responsible use of social media platforms.
