EC to hold regular media briefings on December 7

The Electoral Commission has announced that it will provide regular media briefings on Election Day, December 7th, 2024, to keep the public informed about the progress of the elections.

The briefings aim to offer timely updates and ensure transparency throughout the electoral process.

The first media briefing is scheduled for 9:00 am on December 7, 2024, with subsequent briefings at 12:00 noon, 3:00 pm, and 6:00 pm.

From 9:00 pm onwards, the Commission will provide additional briefings as results are received from various regions. Each session will last no more than 30 minutes.

The Commission has invited media personnel with accreditation cards for the National Collation Centre to cover these briefings.

The briefings will also serve as a platform for the Commission to respond to any stories and reports from around the country.

Samuel Tettey, Deputy EC Chairman, Operations made this known in a statement issued on Thursday, December 5.

He urged the media and the general public to verify any election-related reports with the Commission to avoid the spread of unverified information.

He further noted that the Commission remains committed to delivering fair, transparent, credible, and peaceful elections and looks forward to working with the media to bring the electoral process to the citizens’ doorstep.

For any clarifications during this period, the public can reach the Commission on its toll-free number: 0800 324 324.
