Stop the attacks or face retaliation – NPP to NDC Youth

NPP to NDC Youth

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has warned that its members may be compelled to defend themselves if the ongoing attacks allegedly perpetrated by individuals linked to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are not brought to an end.

According to the NPP, the violent actions against its members and supporters by what it describes as “rampaging NDC youth” must stop immediately to prevent further escalation.

National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Salam Mustapha, expressed concern over the situation, stating, that the constant and wanton attacks on our members cannot continue unchecked.

He called on the NDC leadership to take swift action in addressing the behaviour of their supporters and urged law enforcement agencies to ensure that peace is maintained in the post-election period.

The remarks come amidst heightened tensions following Ghana’s 2024 general elections, which saw the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama emerge as President-elect.

Various reports of clashes and unrest have been recorded in the aftermath of the polls, raising concerns about political stability and public safety.

“We cannot but also defend ourselves if we come under extreme attack. If this is what the NDC won power for, then it looks like we have a very rough ride coming our way.

“It is rather unfortunate that this is what we are being subjected to. We appeal to all NPP supporters and Ghanaians to remain calm. And remember that we are one nation with a shared destiny. Elections are not a justification for violence and division.”
