Asogli State Council congratulates President-elect John Mahama on his 2024 election victory, urging him to lead with inclusivity, equity, and justice.
The Asogli State Council has extended congratulatory messages to President-elect John Mahama on his victory in the 2024 elections.
In a statement on December 16, the Council said the NDC’s victory is a testament to the confidence and trust Ghanaians have placed in John Mahama’s leadership and vision for the nation.
The Council reminded John Mahama of the herculean task ahead of him and expressed their confidence in the President-elect to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
“Your Excellency, the hope of an entire nation now rests on your shoulders. The people of Ghana have spoken resoundingly against dishonesty, lawlessness, injustice, divisiveness, arrogance, corruption, economic mismanagement, joblessness, and the destruction of our lands and rivers, and entrusted you with the mandate to lead a united Ghana toward prosperity. We are confident that you will honour this trust by working relentlessly to provide opportunities for all Ghanaians,” the statement said.
The Council urged John Mahama to be a leader for all, regardless of political, ethnic, or regional affiliations. It advised Mahama to ensure that his policies, conduct, and decisions are guided by the principles of inclusivity, equity, and justice.
The Asogli State Council also called on the next government to recover stolen state assets and hold state officials accountable.
“Being a leader for all, however, does not preclude holding people accountable, nor does it preclude the recovery of stolen state assets and funds. We hope the lessons from the elections and Ghanaians’ quest for better governance, transparency, and accountability will shape the agenda of your government.
“We are happy about Your Excellency’s intention to prioritise the pressing desires of our people. These desires include equitable economic growth, stability, job creation, and infrastructure development. By pursuing these desires with diligence and integrity, you will strengthen the bonds of trust between the government and the citizens,” Secretary to the Council, Stephen Tetteh, noted in the statement.
“As you prepare to assume your new responsibilities, we pledge our support and partnership in all initiatives that promote peace and development and bring renewed hope to all Ghanaians. May your tenure be marked by wisdom, humility, honesty, and the courage to take bold decisions that will leave a legacy for our nation. Once again, we congratulate you, Your Excellency, on this remarkable achievement and wish you success as you steer the affairs of the motherland,” the statement added.
