C/R: GOMOA MAYENDA RESIDENTS APPEAL FOR POTABLE WATER AND TEACHERS QUARTERS

Residents and Elders living at Mayenda Community in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region are advocating for access to potable water and a Housing Unit for Teachers in the community.

The farming community with over 1,000 population are decrying of portable water as residents have to resulted to a river in the community as their only source of water or have to walk a long way to a near by community.

In addition, they residents added that, accommodation for Teachers and Nurses is also a major problem they are facing.
They say Nurses and Teachers live far away from the community making their job effectiveness declining.

On the side the teachers, the Mayenda residents noted that due to lack of accommodation for the teachers, they report to school late bacuase they do not stay near, this situation is increasing indiscipline among the students.

Nurses and health personnel also close early to get home which a nearby town.

They are therefore reiterating calls on the Chief of the community who will be enstooled on 15th February, 2025 to prioritise these problems they are facing.

The Chief of the Community who will officially be enstooled on 15th February, 2025, Nana Kofi Duku IV on his part promised to tackle the issues shared by the residents.

Nana added that site plan for the construction of Nurses and Teachers accommodation has already been made and construction works will begin shortly after his enstoolment.

Nana Kofi Duku IV added that he intends to construct mechanize borehole for the community.
