Member of Parliament for Domeabra/ Obom Constituency has called on the Government to pay immediate attention to “No Bed Syndrome” arising in hospitals.
Madam Sophia Karen Ackuaku narrating her experience at the Police hospital said that her bodyguard who is a Police officer took ill was rushed to the Police hospital and it took an hour and a half before he was admitted though his case was severe.
According to the Member of Parliament, Madam Sophia, the nurses on duty said there were no beds therefore he had to lie down on the bare floor.
Most patients were also lying on the floor, others on chairs and some were even sitting on the floor receiving health care.
“I had to reveal my body guard’s identity that he is a Police officer and I am also a Member of Parliament before a bed was allocated for my guard to lie on. Just imagine if a lower rank or a civilian was in such a situation, what would have happened??”. She asked.
Hon. Sophia Karen Ackuaku is calling on the government and other organizations to help eradicate the No Bed Syndrome before it gets out of hand because most people are losing their lives and others are being denied medical care because of limited beds and Spaces in the hospital.
