The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Hon Mavis Hawa Koomson has sponsored over three hundred(300) people in her constituency who wants to acquire vocational skills.
Speaking at the event, the Campaign Manager for Hon Hawa Koomson who doubles as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Coastal Development Authority, Mr Emmanuel Kojo Affram revealed, the initiative is part of the objectives of the MP to reduce unemployment especially youth unemployment because the MP believes that unemployment is a threat to the national security.
The Deputy CEO declared the intention of the Member of Parliament when speaking on her behalf on the last day of the training that took place at Kasoa-Asempa Down.
Mr Emmanuel Kojo Affram, further advised the participants to trade with the acquired skills and also train others so that many people could benefit from the initiative.
The Coordinator of the program, Apostle Dr Papa Andoh said, through the consultation process, they realized that a lot of the constituents lack the needed skills to be able to engage in any meaningful economic activities therefore he sees the initiative of Hon Hawa Koomson as a timely intervention that will go a long way to empower the constituents.
Apostle Papa Andoh said the training would take place every three months and explained that it is not only for the beginner but masters who want to polish their skills
The beneficiaries commended Hon Hawa Koomson for the kind gesture and promised that they would practice what they have acquired.
