The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson and her team are on a three-day working visit to the Volta region.
The purpose of the visit is to interact with Fishers on the fisheries-related issues and also to symbolically close the sea to officially commence the 2021 closed fishing season.
Artisanal and Inshore fleets will observe a month closed fishing season from 1st to 31st July 2021 while the industrial trawlers will observe two months of closed fishing season from 1st July to 31st August 2021.
The closed fishing season is a measure to ensure the recovery of depleted marine fish stocks
