A man whose charred remains was discovered at Fiifi, a suburb of Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central Region on last Monday has finally been identified by her wife as Francis Dawson

Francis Dawson, 39, until his demise was a television set repairer who resided at Kaemebre Downtown in Kasoa.

It could be recalled that Residents of Fiifi, a suburb of Gomoa Nyanyano on last Monday morning discovered charred remains of an unknown man.

The body which was burnt beyond recognition has however been identified by the wife, Madam Grace Dawson.

The death of Francis Dawson has thrown the family into an unmeasured shock.

The wife of the deceased Madam Grace Dawson speaking to Obaatanpa news reporter, Mireku Nyampong revealed that her husband on Saturday night around 3 am was picked by some men wearing Community Police Uniforms under the guise of taking him to a police station in Nyanyano Kakraba over a complaint filed against him by someone.

However, when she and some other persons tried to follow up they realised there was no police station at the said place. This caused them to inquire from the Nyanyano police station but the police there denied knowledge of any arrest of that sort.

Grace Dawson further explained that a search at all police stations in and around Kasoa to find him proved futile.

Madam Grace Dawson said, she later received a text message from her husband’s phone number claiming he was at the Accra central police cell over a TV issue but another search at the Accra central and several other police stations also proved futile.

She said, she later saw the news in the media and followed up to the police hospital morgue where she was able to identify the body through a slight portion of his shirt which did not burn.

The wife has called on the police to launch a full-scale investigation into the matter so that the perpetrators of this heinous crime will be punished by law.

They have been married for two years and they have one child

Assemblyman for Downtown/Kaemebre electoral area in Kasoa, Emmanuel Ofori Ansong has called on the police to intensify patrols in the area.

He had appealed to the police administration to post personnel to a police post built by the community through a self-help initiative
