Hon Alexander Afenyo Kwamina Markin, Deputy Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, has cautioned the young and the general public not to dismiss vocational and technical skills, as it have the power to change their life.
He explained that it’s regrettable that most Ghanaian youths have turned against vocational and technical skills, believing that vocational schools are exclusively for school dropouts and people who fail their exams.
Hon. Afenyo Kwamina Markin has urged society to prioritize vocational skills and eliminate white collar occupations.
During the commissioning of an ultra modern library, computer lab, and fully equipped fashion design practical center at Winneba National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) today, the member of parliament made these remarks to Obaatanpa News Mireku Nyampong.
He has promised to provide the youth with the necessary logistics to pursue vocational and technical skills as a lifelong opportunity.
Meanwhile, Mr. Martin Ekow Young, the principal/manager of the Winneba National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), has conveyed his gratitude to the member of parliament for his generous support of Vocational Training education in the area.
Mr. Martin Young stated that, as Oliver Twist always asks for more, the school’s significant difficulties include a barrier wall, a spacious Assembly Hall, inadequate teachers quarters, a monitoring vehicle, and others, and he urged higher authorities to take punitive steps to address them.
