The Denu High Court has placed an injunction on the ongoing polling stations elections in the Akatsi South Constituency.

The election of the Akatsi South polling Station elections came to a halt following a misunderstanding between some constituency election committee members and some polling station executives over the alleged hoarding of nomination forms and failure to comply with the new directives announced by Mr Freddie Blay, National Chairman of the NPP to extend the deadline for the sale of forms and vetting of eligible candidates.

The High Court presided over by Mrs Naana Bedu – Addo granted an ex-parte application against Pope Yao Yevu, Regional representative of the Akatsi South Electoral Committee, Mr Kudjo Abledu, Constituency Chairman, Mr Mawuli Ocloo Agus, Constituency Secretary, and Emmanuel Ahorni, Constituency Research Officer.

The court also ordered the defendants to restrain themselves from disenfranchising and all other related activities the plaintiffs raised for a period of ten days.

Saviour Kodzo Nyade Agbleze, the applicant, who is a polling station Chairman for ARS polling station B at Akatsi and 12 others, who showed interest in contesting the polling station executive positions, have failed to purchase the forms after all attempts yielded no result.

The situation further compelled the plaintiffs to file an ex-parte injunction application praying the court to injunct the listed committee members to prevent them from picking the forms.

In a statement of claim, the plaintiffs requested that an order directed at the Defendants to comply with the new directives announced by the National Chairman in extending the deadline for the sale of forms and vetting of eligible candidates.

Among other claims also included an order to restrain the defendants not to undertake the vetting of NPP eligible candidates and aspirants to the various Polling Station Executive positions within the Akatsi South Constituency without the participation of the plaintiffs herein, an order restraining the defendants from vetting constituency polling station executives until electoral forms are made available to all members of the Party in the Constituency, as well as cost and legal fees.
