Hon. Sheila Bartels, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North has presented assorted provisions and cash tokens to some underprivileged students from her constituency.
The presentation, which took place at a brief ceremony on Wednesday, 17th March 2021, was made to 200 of the recently admitted free SHS students.
According to the MP, free SHS is a top priority for the government because it is the surest way of empowering Ghanaian children to achieve their dreams.
She was therefore keen to support the policy by supporting these students from underprivileged backgrounds with the donated items.
The MP congratulated the students on their recent admissions while admonishing them to remain resolute and focused on their studies so that they could pass their final exams and gain entrance into any of the top universities in Ghana. She also pledged to sponsor the university admission fees of all the 200 beneficiaries when they qualify for admission into any of the country’s universities.
“As you go to your various schools, I want all of you to be determined to complete and attend a university… For the next three years when you finish with your SHS, I will still be here; and when you are going to the university, all 200 of you, I will pay your admission fees”, She said.
The ceremony which took place at the Been-to Events Centre within the constituency was witnessed by a few high-ranking party and local government officials such as Hon. Kofi Ofori (MCE), Hon. Edmund Lomo (Presiding Member), Hon. Joyce Acheampong (Government Appointee), and Md. Afia Agyemang (NPP Constituency Women’s Organizer).
