Accra Circuit Court fines Bulldog GH¢48,000 for threatening Akufo Addo

The Accra Circuit Court fined Artiste Manager Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, nicknamed Bullgod, GH48,000 for saying on TV that President Akufo-Addo would not complete his second term if Menzgold clients are not paid.

If he does not pay the fee, he faces 40 days in jail, according to Graphiconline.com.

In January 2021, Nana Asiamah Hanson said on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, January 9, 2021, that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would not finish his four-year term if dissatisfied consumers of the gold dealership corporation do not get their locked-up cash.

Bullgod further said that ideas that consumers invested at their own risk and hence cannot hold the government liable for the difficulty caused them are inappropriate.

“We’ll get our monies back else Nana Addo will run; he won’t finish his 4 years. I’m telling you. He won’t finish his 4 years,” a visibly angry Bulldog vehemently barked.

He established that his worries are not impacted by the fact that he was formerly an employee of Zylofon Media, one of the firms controlled by Menzgold chief Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1), but rather by the fact that he is a victim.

Following his remark, the artist’s management was sued for disturbing the peace. He had previously pled not guilty in court but was found guilty during Tuesday’s hearing.

In his defense, Bullgod said that his statement was intended to appeal to the president and that he had no intention of threatening the president.

However, the court, ruled by by Evelyn Asamoah, concluded that “the judge was of the considered judgment Bulldog could not have meant to appeal to the President’s conscience given to the seriousness of his comments.”

The court said that Bullgod’s comments obviously threatened the President and was intended to encourage people against the country’s First Gentleman.

“What he said could have serious security implications as it put the President in danger,” the judge said.
