Accra: Freedom Cheddar’s tigers to be relocated from Wonda World Estates – Police

Following public outcry about Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar’s tigers, the Ghana Police Service has intervened.

In a previous publication shared by www.Ghbase.com, residents of the area complained that the presence of the tigers in the community is making them unsafe.

According to Daily Guide sources, all efforts by the residents to get the owner or the management of the facility to evacuate the tigers have proven futile as on most occasions, their complaints are met with hostile responses.

Some of the residents claim that “the animals stink. Those animals are held inside an apartment where there is no access to proper fresh air. As soon as the door is open, you sniff a strong unpleasant smell emanating from them,” one resident said.

Another resident also said, “They are opened early in the morning and then sent inside around 10am. They pee and poo on the floor. They also make noise which disturbs our sleep.”

For this reason, the Police in a statement said preliminary investigations had established that a resident in the gated community was keeping the two tigers under lock in a cage.

“Police have reached out to the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission and efforts are underway to relocate the animals to an appropriate facility,” the Police said in a statement.

“A special police team has been deployed to provide adequate security in the affected neighbourhood to ensure the safety of residents until the animals are relocated.

The statement added that investigations were ongoing into the matter, urging residents within the community to remain calm.

“Whiles investigations continue, we would like to entreat all residents within the community to remain calm as we work with our stakeholders to ensure their safety”.
