Andre Ayew’s recent exploits for Le Havre speak volumes – Stephen Appiah

Andre Ayew

Ghanaian football legend Stephen Appiah has praised Andre Ayew for his impressive performance at the end of the French Ligue 1 season.

Despite predictions of another move, the attacker signed with Le Havre in the second round of the 2023/24 season. As captain of the Black Stars, he impressed and became a key player for his team.

After scoring six goals for his club, Stephen Appiah believes Andre Ayew still has much to contribute to the national teams.

The Ghanaian legend asserts that Andre Ayew’s age should not be a factor in his exclusion from the Black Stars.

“In my observation during the AFCON, for instance, Max Gradel, at 37, was a key figure for the Ivory Coast team. Age should not be the sole determinant. If a player is between 38 to 40 and still performing well, why not?

“From what I have observed, I believe he has proven his worth. While the Ayew we saw in 2010 may have evolved, his recent achievements, especially with his club, speak volumes,” Stephen Appiah told 3Sports.

The former Ghana captain added, “We shouldn’t focus solely on Ayew’s playing time. His mere presence can be influential. I believe he still has a role to play, whether it’s on or off the pitch.”

Andre Ayew, who was not included in the recently assembled Black Stars squad, will be watching the games against Mali and the Central African Republic from home.
