Asante Kotoko Win Ghana League Title With 3 Matches Left To Play

Statistically, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have been crowned champions of the Ghana Premier League 2021/22 after drawing with Ashanti Gold.

Following their match against Ashanti Gold on Thursday at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium, which ended 1-1, Asante Kotoko were crowned champions of the Ghana Premier League, giving them their record 25th title overall.

The Porcupine Warriors have already secured the championship despite the fact that there are still three matches to be played in the season because they are currently at the top of the league table with 60 points, which is 10 points more than second-placed Bechem United after all 31 matches have been played.

Yaw Annor scored for the first time in the game in the tenth minute, giving the home team an early lead.

Maxwell Agyemang scored the equalizer for the side coached by Prosper Narteh Ogum in the sixty-seventh minute of play. Annor now has 20 goals to his name.

Historically, Asante Kotoko has not been crowned champions of the Ghana Premier League since 2014, making this their first victory in the competition in seven years.

During that time, the Kumasi-based club was victorious in 2019, taking home the Normalisation trophy from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
