Chelsea captain, Cesar Azpilicueta has committed his future to Stamford Bridge by extending his contract until 2024.
The Spaniard who was a transfer target for FC Barcelona, penned down another two-year contract to extend his stay with the west Londoners derailing the Catalans long-running pursuit of the 32-year-old.
“I am really happy to extend my stay at Chelsea, my home, it is almost 10 years since I first arrived and joined the club, so I really feel the love and I am really excited for the new project we have in our hands. said Azpilicueta.
He added “I would like to say thank you to Todd and Behdad for giving me the opportunity to keep my journey at this amazing club and I am really looking forward to continuing our adventure. I am a really proud captain and I hope we can share many good memories together.”
Chelsea signed Azpilicueta in 2012 from Marseille and the full back has since won major silverwares. He has got his hands on two premier league titles, one each of FA Cup and League Cup, two Europa Leagues, one Champions League and one Club World Cup.
