Dutch forward Memphis Depay has been given a heroic welcome after he touched down in Ghana for a short holiday.
The player who plays his club football for Spanish giant Barcelona has Ghanaian blood in him as his father is a Ghanaian.
He reportedly arrived on Thursday and will be in the country for a couple of days.
We gathered that he will also be engaged in philanthropic works and will meet the leaders of the Ghana Football Association to discuss how he can help football in the West African nation.
Depay was in the news recently when he dropped a video saying he has forgiven his dad, Dennis Depay after he grew up without his love and care.
“I didn’t come that far to talk about it but now we cool,” when we asked if he was angry at his father for leaving. “You know I’m older. At the age of 22, I think 23, I forgave him,” he said.
“He is not a bad guy, he just won’t take his responsibilities. He knows that. I was for a very long time angry because obviously, you get those questions a lot when you play football.
“People even make jokes about it. Fans of other teams, players but at the end of the day I know how to become a good dad when I become one someday, hopefully,” he stated emotionally in the viral video shared on Twitter.
