The Black Princesses of Ghana are on the verge of elimination from the ongoing U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica after they lost 2-0 to Japan in the Estadio Alejandro Morera on Sunday.
Ghana held the Asians to a goalless draw in the first 45 minutes before capitulating to a 2-0 defeat in the second installment of the game.
They were on the ropes in most part of the second half with a disjointed team as Japan controlled and took the game to them.
They conceded two second half penalties and Maika Hamano was on hand to convert both expertly to hand the Japanese all the three maximum points.
The Black Princesses lost 3-0 to USA in their first game before coming into this game. They needed a good result against Japan who won their first game 1-0 against the Netherlands.
Their hope of securing qualification to the quarterfinals is now hanging in the balance.
