Budget approval: Hypocrites who voted NPP are criticising Minority – Yayra Koku

Yayra Koku

National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist  Yayra Koku has lashed out at persons criticising the NDC minority caucus in Parliament after the approval of 2023 Budget.

Mr Koku thinks that it is hypocritical to target the NDC minority for criticism for being part of the approval of the budget when the budget was put together by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), which should be held responsible for the contents of the budget.

For him, such persons are hypocrites who voted the NPP in power but are unable to hold it to account for its actions and inactions.

“You voted for the NPP. You can’t attack them for their incompetence, but you are blaming the minority for approving the 2023 budget. HYPOCRITES…,he wrote.

The NDC minority in Parliament has been chastised for approving the budget, which many say will impose further hardship on the ordinary Ghanaian. They assert that the Minority should have rejected the budget outright.

But defenders of the minority are of the view that the approval of the budget is only the first step and at sittings for the appropriation bill, the minority has a chance to reject aspects of the budget it disagrees with. They then wonder find the minority is being criticised for the budget prepared by the NPP.
