C/R: 20yr old man slashes friend’s palm with a cutlass over ₵30

Stephen Ansah

In the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region, Stephen Ansah, age 20, is in the custody of the police after he slashed the palm of a buddy in the Pomaa Pokuase area.

Mr. Emmanuel Appiah, 22, is reportedly battling for his fingers at the Fosu Polyclinic, as revealed by Inspector Gilbert Ayongo.

Inspector Gilbert Ayongo, a state prosecutor, reportedly told the Ghanaian Times that Emmanuel, the victim, wanted his portion of the GH30 money they both toiled for, but Ansah refused to give it to him. This allegedly went on for two weeks.

The victim, who was in serious need of the cash, contacted Ansah’s dad, he said.

But Ansah didn’t appreciate this and rushed to the victim’s house with a cutlass, intending to stab him in the stomach.

The victim grabbed the cutlass as the criminal pulled it, severing several of the offender’s fingers in the process.

The Assin Fosu Police Force received a tip and tracked down Ansah, who had left the scene after injuring the victim. The report also said that he would be facing legal consequences.
