The Awutu Senya East Municipal Health Directorate in the Central Region has confirmed to have recorded about 30 cases of Cholera with 5 of them reported dead.
The Municipal Health Directorate noted that the major health facilities in the municipality namely Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital, Kasoa New Market health Centre and Kasoa Polyclinic started receiving people suffering diarrhea and vomiting so it was later the cases were confirmed as Cholera.
The Kasoa Polyclinic authorities noted that people were referred from Gomoa East and Awutu Senya West to the Polyclinic in Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East which the cases were confirmed.
Speaking in an interview with the Municipal Chief Executive of Awutu Senya East, Hon. Anita Obo Love Amissah after visiting some health facilities in Kasoa confirmed the death off five people.
She noted that the severity of the cases are getting worse and they are hoping it will slow down in the coming days.
She added that her effort in collaboration with the Health Directorate is intensifying efforts to contain spread of the disease by tackling the insanitary situation that stimulates the disease.
On his part, the Environmental Health Officer of the Awutu Senya East Municipality, Mr. Godson Mawutor Olodo urged all food vendors in Kasoa and it’s environs to practice proper personal hygiene.
He also employed all citizens to go back to the era where we use sanitizers and wash our hands with soap.
